To make a copper material, we use the Reflectance channel. Let's double click this and we'll call it Copper. Let's just turn that Interactive Render Region off and create a new material, double click. And you'll notice at the bottom here by using an absorption color, we also color the area shadows. Let's close down the Material Manager and I'm going to enable the Interactive Render Region and just move it over to around about where the sphere is. If we set this down to 10, you can see that there, and this has become way more pronounced. The lower the value, the more intense the Absorption Color, because the light has less distance to travel. If we just move the Material Editor over and click onto the sphere, the radius of the sphere is 70 centimeters and just through a little bit of testing, this gave me a decent look.

So I'm going to set the Absorption Distance to be a little bit less than this and around about 70 centimeters. Just click onto your little color chip here and in the Color Picker, I'll add in some values and just press enter to confirm that. And when light enters the object, it weakens and changes color, we can emulate this with the Absorption Color and the Absorption Distance. Most glass objects in the real world are rarely colorless. Simply by turning this channel on, we have managed to create a glass material that's because the index of refraction or the refraction preset that we have here is already set to glass. So I'll disable the Color and the Reflectance channel and just turn on Transparency. Now to make a refractive material, we work with the Transparency channel. And I'm going to double click this once again, and we'll call it, Glass. I will assign it to the sphere because this is the first object we want to work with. So in the Material Manager, I'm going to double click to create a new material.

Update 1 also includes support for both Maya 2024 and Apple Silicon processors.- Let's continue where we left off in the previous movie and create some reflective and refractive materials. Additionally, emissive materials can now be included in Light Selects or fine-tuned in Light Mix right in the V-Ray Frame Buffer.

Rather than relying on Boolean operators, you can animate the clipper to achieve complex effects with just a few clicks.īump to Glossiness: This new node automatically generates the correct glossiness for normal-mapped surfaces at any distance to avoid characters’ skin looking too shiny.Įnhanced Procedural Clouds: Cloud density, patterns, and new final touches with contrails can be used to create new, better-looking procedural skies.Īrtists using V-Ray 6 for Maya will receive support for the latest versions of MayaUSD, as well as Beauty and masking render elements and V-Ray Object Properties. V-Ray Clipper Mesh Mode: Render complex cutaways and sections using any mesh object with V-Ray GPU. Save an average of 50 per cent of your GPU memory, while adding additional levels of detail, all without sacrificing shading quality.

Decide which objects to apply lens effects to, which ones to blur, sharpen or even denoise, without re-rendering.Ĭompressed Textures Mode: Render texture-heavy scenes with V-Ray GPU in a more memory-efficient way. V-Ray Frame Buffer: Masking for Post Effects: Even more post-processing control in the V-Ray Frame Buffer. NVIDIA AI Denoiser Upscaling- Lookdev and preview with NVIDIA’s new AI Denoiser and boost rendering speeds by over three times. V-Ray Profiler integration and improvements: You’ll now find the V-Ray Profiler in V-Ray for Cinema 4D, and we’ve added even more metrics so you can ensure your pipeline is running smoothly. Static mesh and hair optimisations: Now, you can get to the first pixel 2.5 to seven times faster.

Artists now have the freedom to alter a light’s intensity, hotspots and spread/length of rays, opening artistic effects that diverge from physical norms. With update 1 for both packages, artists working in film, TV, streaming and design can make use of new tools to add millions of objects, disrupt physical lighting constraints and produce photorealistic scenes faster than ever.Ĭhaos Scatter: Quickly place natural and man-made objects into scenes in a believably randomised or patterned way in just a few clicks, without taxing your machine’s memory.Ĭustom Light Decay: Determine exactly how you want light to behave based on the source distance. Chaos recently treated V-Ray for Maya and V-Ray for Cinema4D users with an amazing set of updates.
